It was Renault 5 only by its name. We already wrote about Renault Alpine A110, and now this is the story of another of Renault's legendary rally cars - R5 Turbo. The standard Renault 5 Alpine had a 93 BHP, front-mounted and normally aspirated engine paired with front-wheel drive which made it a fairly fast car on all surfaces. However, in 1977 began a radical new idea under the moniker "Project 822", resulting in the legendary R5 Turbo.
